Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City’s Blue Medicare Advantage includes both HMO and PPO plans with Medicare contracts.
Enrollment in Blue Medicare Advantage depends on contract renewal.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
The HMO products are offered by Blue-Advantage Plus of Kansas City, Inc. and the PPO products are offered by Missouri Valley
Life and Health Insurance Company, both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
For Blue Medicare Advantage (HMO) products only, members must use plan providers except in emergency or urgent care situations.
If a member with an HMO product obtains routine care from an out-of-network provider without prior approval from Blue KC, neither
Medicare nor Blue KC will be responsible for the costs.
For Blue Medicare Advantage (PPO) products only, out-of-network/non-contracted providers are under no obligation to treat
Blue Medicare Advantage (PPO) members, except in emergency situations.
For a decision about whether we will cover an out-of-network service, we encourage you or your provider to ask us for a
pre-service organization determination before you receive the service.
Please call our customer service number or see your Evidence of Coverage for more information, including the cost-sharing
that applies to out-of-network services.
All Blue Advantage plans include Part D drug coverage.
To enroll in a Blue Advantage plan, you must have both Medicare Parts A and B and reside in the Missouri counties of Cass,
Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Lafayette, Platte and Ray, or in the Kansas counties of Johnson and Wyandotte may apply to join
Blue Medicare Advantage.
